Forest Inventory Specialist (Digital Image Interpreter)

duties
- interpretation & identification of forest and ecological land classification attributes on air digital imagery (Leica ADS 40).
- delineate forested & non-forested polygons.
- annual field work required for personal calibration and to maintain accreditation.
- Softcopy technology application (ESRI Purview and Stereo Analyst).

skills & abilities
The ideal applicant will be expert in aerial image interpretation, field experience, forest inventory and Softcopy ability.
- keen interest in working with aerial photos or digital imagery.
- competency with digital technology, GIS software and general office systems is an asset.

qualifications
- An aptitude for detail-oriented, precision production work.
- A degree or diploma in forestry, natural resources/sciences, geography or GIS is required.
- Minimum of 7 months digital image or photo interpretation experience.
- OMNR Ecological Land Classification (ELC) photo interpretation certifications:  Boreal and Great Lakes-St. Lawrence forest regions.
- OMNR ELC Calibration Plot Methodology experience required.
- Valid drivers license with clean driving record.
