Job Postings / Summer Jobs (After Tree Plant)

SUMMER EMPLOYMENT AVAILABLE 2019
Starting August 6th

Survival Assessments Traverse on foot across recently planted areas to established temporary sample plots.  Record the condition of planted trees.  Weekdays 8 am. to 5 pm. Day rate.  July 29 to Aug. 30. 2 positions.    
Qualifications*
-Accuracy in data collection and record keeping using tablet and MSExcel. 
-Know tree and vegetation  species.
-Ability to navigate and orienteer using map, air photo, compass and GPS.


Regeneration Surveys Traverse on foot across logged areas and measure forest tree regeneration at pre-determined sample locations.  Weekdays 8 am. to 5 pm. Day rate.  July 29 to Aug. 30. 2 positions.
Qualifications*
-Accuracy in data collection and record keeping using tablet and MSExcel. 
-Know tree and vegetation  species.
-Ability to navigate and orienteer using map, air photo, compass and GPS.


Permanent Sample Plot Re-Measurement  Re-measure tree diameters and species at pre-established sample plot locations.  Refresh individual tree markings and plot boundaries with ribbon and paint.  Weekdays  8 am. to 5 pm. Day rate.  2 positions.  (may be combined with Regeneration surveys)
Qualifications*
-Accuracy in data collection and record keeping using tablet and MSExcel. 
-Know mature Boreal tree species.
-Ability to navigate and orienteer using map, air photo, compass and GPS.


Aerial Spray Supervision  Give planted trees a chance against the shrubbery. Monitor weather and supervise aerial spraying contractor on the Hearst Forest. Make decisions based on weather to allow work to proceed or not.  Split days common: early morning and evening work.  Day rate.  Starts July 29th .  1 position. 
Qualifications*
-Knowledgeable or willingness to learn and predict weather conditions that allow aerial spraying.
-Forestry or Land Class 1 Exterminator?s license is an asset for higher pay.


*Qualifications note:  In addition, all positions require
-Positive attitude, strong work ethic, dependable.
-Willingness to work in adverse weather.
-Successful completion of spring plant.
-Driver?s license (minimum G) with clean driving record.
